I had the pleasure of joining on their Women & Money The S**t We Don’t Talk About Podcast to talk about the cost of going through the menopause transition. The cost is real for midlife women. From hair loss treatments and supplements, skincare, hormones, fitness apps or memberships, healthy food, therapy, a menopause care expert outside your insurance model, health coaches, and so much more, it’s her new reality and she needs to be savvy at prioritizing and budgeting. Financial health is a pillar of longevity.

Menopause education, trusted resources, and an accountability partner are part of her midlife equation. Follow the link in the profile to hear the full episode. It’s a fantastic conversation.

November marks National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month, and the stats are staggering for women.

Women make up approximately 2/3 of Americans living with AD.

Earlier age at menopause (or earlier loss of estrogen) is associated with a higher risk of AD.

Midlife CVD risk factors (heart disease, diabetes, high cholesterol) are more strongly linked to cognitive decline in women than men.

Heart disease and brain health share underlying risk factors: vascular damage, inflammation, and impaired blood flow.

Being a woman IS a risk factor.

rē•spin is opening up this conversation to all of you in a FREE live webinar with Dr. Kellyann Niotis and Thomas Dayspring, MD FACP, FNLA, next week. Dr. Kellyann Niotis is the first fellowship-trained preventive neurologist, and Dr. Thomas Dayspring is an internationally recognized lipidologist and internist, and we will be exploring the critical connection between Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and heart disease.

It's FREE. Invite your friends, family, and colleagues. We all deserve to understand how our bodies work, our risk factors, what practical lifestyle action steps we can take, and the treatment options available.

Non-negotiable: walking 7-10k steps after a long travel day.

Chicago > Bangor, Maine > Bar Harbor

Sitting for hours does my body no good. The science is clear; moving over not moving has health benefits. After an 8 hour travel day, we pushed through and headed to Acadia National Park for an ocean walk. No climbs, no descents. Just a flat path along the rocky coast to hit 10k steps. Laying down on a bed was not an option. We also did this during the sunset to maximize circadian rhythm benefits- a boost in melatonin production for deep sleep.

Dont poo-poo walking. Yes, I love my gym and Peloton sessions, but getting fresh air, connecting with a friend or partner, and exploring new places lowers anxiety and depressive symptoms, all cause mortality (heart disease, dementia, type 2 diabetes, cancer, and early death). We also walked to dinner and back to our hotel adding in more steps and lowering our blood glucose levels post dinner.

What’s one non-negotiable for you when traveling?

Building your healthcare team during midlife and beyond is one of the most important things women can do. Consider a financial health expert or advisor. It costs money to move through the menopause transition and the goal is to increase our health span as we age. Think beyond the walls of a medical setting. Who do you want sitting at your board of directors table?

Showings up for your annual appointments creates a proactive, and preventative approach to your health. It gets more expensive when you have to navigate the 911’s of menopause.

Connecting with your financial health IS a pillar of overall health and longevity. Prepare yourself.

I did a thing this week. I tested into and attended the annual training conference to become a member of the MINT (Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers). MI is a collaborative coaching approach that helps people find their own motivation to make positive changes. It’s not about fixing, convincing, or lecturing someone about making changes, it’s a science-backed way of guiding my clients to help them discover WHY making the change is meaningful to them. There are over 2500 studies on MI. It’s the real deal.

Why does this matter to me as a Board Certified Health and Wellness coach? Because women navigating midlife feel overwhelmed, lost, different, uncomfortable, unseen, unheard, and, well, just crappy.

There are so many IG influencers, some doctors, who continuously TELL, DIRECT, and THROW information and reasons why she should do x, y, and z. She may leave her doctor’s office with a list of what to do, and as she re-enters her real life, she is paralyzed by overwhelm. We know that doesn’t work.

I’m proud of this achievement. It’s been a 2-year long road to get me here, with the support of key MI trainers. To the health coaches who follow me here, consider the possibilities. To the women I help on their menopause journeys, you have everything you need to do the hard work. I’m your Sherpa using a language and skillset, that’s evidence-based, to support your growth.

If it was easy, we’d all be doing it. Xoxo

Financial health and menopause should be openly discussed and recognized as interconnected pillars of overall well-being for midlife women. As women navigate the profound hormonal, emotional, and physical shifts of menopause, they are often simultaneously facing major financial transitions—such as career changes, caregiving responsibilities, or planning for retirement. In addition, the costs of medications, supplements, healthcare team members who may not be covered by insurance (think hair loss, skin changes, dental) and more. These changes can compound stress and impact long-term security if not addressed with awareness and planning. By treating financial health as an essential aspect of midlife wellness—alongside physical, mental, and emotional health—women are better equipped to make empowered decisions, advocate for themselves, and build resilience for the decades ahead.

Creating space for this dialogue not only breaks long-standing taboos but also ensures that women can thrive with confidence through menopause and beyond.
