Most people instinctively reach for ice when something hurts.
But for many spine and muscle issues, heat is often the better option.
Heat therapy helps increase circulation to the area, bringing oxygen and nutrients that support tissue health and recovery. It also helps muscles relax, which can reduce tension and make movement feel easier.
For people dealing with muscle tightness, spinal stiffness, or ongoing neck and low back tension, heat can be especially helpful. The warmth improves tissue flexibility and allows muscles and joints to move more comfortably.
Heat is also commonly recommended before stretching or activity, because warm muscles respond better to movement and are less likely to feel restricted.
While ice has its place right after an acute injury with noticeable swelling, many everyday muscle and spine complaints respond better to improved circulation and muscle relaxation.
That’s why, in many cases, heat is the option we recommend most often. 🔥
