🎉 A Double Celebration for 90 Years! 🎂

Join us in celebrating the 90th birthday of twin sisters Carol Corbett and Elaine Degnan at Resurrection Village in Chicago. These amazing sisters have shared over 15 years of joy in our community, having moved here after decades of living across the street from each other. Together, they have raised a remarkable family of 19 children and 26 grandchildren, continuing their legacy of love and togetherness.

Carol and Elaine enjoy spending time with family and friends, participating in choir and faith-based groups, and playing bridge. Their incredible journey and enduring friendship inspires us all. Here’s to many more joyful years together! 🥳

Today we honored the memory of our recently departed residents with a heartfelt prayer service and candlelight ceremony, celebrating their lives and the lasting impact they had on our community. Thank you to the Archbold Duo for the harmonious music.

Our Mission week ends with our monthly donation to the local food pantry “New Hope Community Food Pantry”, an organization which has for many years, assisted our neighbors with food insecurity. At Ascension Living Resurrection Village , Mission week reminds us that living our mission is a year-round calling - one rooted in the healing ministry of Jesus as healer, faith, compassion and community.

What a week of Halloween shenanigans! Spirit week, pumpkin decorating contest, residents acting like kids again with costumes and Bloody Mary’s! Happy Halloween and congratultions to the Activity Department for winning the pumpkin contest with only 1 more vote than Assisted Living!

A highlight of our Mission week is the wonderful generosity of our residents who contributed to the Norridge Police Department “Shop with a Cop” program. Our community demonstrated our value of “Service to the Poor”. Over $1000 was donated to make children’s Christmases a little bit brighter.

Mission we continues with our “Mini retreat” led by Deacon Mark Duffey. Our Spiritual Service volunteers prayed together and committed to the value of dedication to our Catholic identity.

Our mission week began with an invitation to our residence and staff to write their blessings on leaves to be placed on our “Tree of Gratitude”. Our tree reflects the value of Reverence.
