💋 Let’s Talk Lip Filler Migration & Dissolve

My beautiful client came to me to correct old filler migration not placed by me.

Lip filler can beautifully enhance shape, balance, and volume when done properly. However, sometimes filler can move outside of the natural lip border — this is known as lip filler migration.

Migration may appear as:
• Puffiness above the lip line
• A “shelf” or shadow above the lips
• Lips that look overfilled or unnatural

✨ Why does filler migration happen?

Several factors can contribute, including:
• Too much filler placed at once
• Repeated treatments too close together
• Improper placement
• Weak lip borders or thin tissue
• Product buildup over time

💉 How do we correct it?

The safest way to correct migrated hyaluronic acid filler is by dissolving it with Hyaluronidase (often known as Hylenex).

Before dissolving filler, we perform a small spot test to ensure your body tolerates the enzyme well. A tiny amount is placed in a discreet area of the skin and monitored for any redness, swelling, or allergic reaction prior to treatment.

Once confirmed safe, we can:
