By pairing athletes with guides we create a space of fun, inclusion and a love for running, walking or rolling! Every day, in parks, gyms, and tracks all over the world, Achilles provides athletes with disabilities with a community of support. Able-bodied volunteers and disabled runners come together to train in an environment of support and community. Within this community, runners gain measurable physical strength and build confidence through their sense of accomplishment, which often transfers to other parts of their life.

Achilles Chicago had the best outing at The Shedd Aquarium this morning! We showed up over 30 strong to learn a little more about our world and have some fun! Our tour was fully accessible and the audio description from our guide Brian was phenomenal! Thank you so much to The Shedd for inviting us in and making sure the tour was accessible to all! Our tour guides Brian and Stephanie you rocked it! Hope you all had fun and see you back at UIC next Saturday 🐙🐠🐬🪼

The drawing is open for the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon.🗽Fifty years ago, our late founder Dick Traum stepped to this start line for the very first time. He was the first person to ever run the marathon on a prosthetic leg.

One brave decision became a movement. One race became a lifetime of miles. One step became a global community.

He didn’t just transform his own life, he changed what the start line looks like. Today, every Achilles athlete who lines up carries his legacy forward. And every mile run, walked or rolled in New York City echoes that first courageous step.

The Cordani Family Grant provides funding opportunities to both athlete and athlete-guide teams to help cover costs for select Achilles destination races. Great morning spent with great people! Achilles Chicago began our indoor workouts today that will run until mid March. We practice at UIC from 10-11. Today we saw many old faces and new ones too and felt the community spirit! Today we were so honored to have Rachel Arfa join us from the Mayors Office of People with Disabilities! We are so grateful for all the work you do in our community and we can’t wait to see you at many more practices🏃‍♀️
