BLACK WOMEN UNITED 2020
The Time is NOW for a Black Woman Vice President.
We should all be grateful for ambitious Black women who spoke their minds and stood up for our people and whose actions benefited all Americans. Women like Rosa Parks, Harriet Tubman, Wilma Rudolph, Mae Jemison, Coretta Scott King, Condoleeza Rice, Dorothy Height, Faye Wattleton, Shirley Chisolm, Barbara Jordan or the many Black women mathematicians who helped America reach the moon.
In 2016 Black voter turnout declined for the first time in 20 years in a presidential election, going from 66.6% in 2012 to 59.6% in 2016. Between 2012 and 2016 the white vote went from 64.1% in 2012 to 65.3% in 2016. We need to ignite our vote again.
As Black women we are standing in our power: we don’t accept being told we don’t belong in this conversation. We know what it is to be told to sit down and wait our turn, not to make a fuss, or get angry. We are standing together, affirming ourselves, advocating for ourselves and making clear that we know the value of what we bring to the table.
Please join this call to action. Repost on all social media platforms , share the image, talk about a Black Woman being Biden's VP, remind all how valuable we truly are.
