2025 was a big year for the SuperAging community!

This year we:
– Launched our new Virtual Connections!
– Hosted the first-ever SuperAging Luncheons across all sites!
These events brought SuperAgers together from all across North America to learn, and celebrate the incredible contributions they’re making to science.

Thank you to everyone who helped make it possible! We cannot wait to see what 2026 holds!

We were honored to join our community partner, Africa International House, in celebrating Kwanzaa through a senior fashion show that highlighted the vitality, creativity, and lived experience of older adults.

It was wonderful to see our SuperAging Ambassadors in attendance, supporting an event that uplifts aging as a time of continued engagement and contribution.

Community gatherings like this reflect the values at the core of the SuperAging Research Initiative, recognizing the strengths of older adults, honoring cultural identity, and fostering meaningful partnerships that support healthy aging across the lifespan.

Throwing it back to 2013 with Edith Stern, at the time 92, was featured as one of our amazing SuperAgers whose brain function is equivalent to someone in their 50s and 60s!

SuperAging research has been around for well over a decade now, but we are still just as eager to learn and make scientific advancements.

At University of Wisconsin-Madison, our SuperAging Research Initiative team—led by Dr. Ozioma Okonkwo—is proud to collaborate with partner sites across North America to advance understanding of exceptional memory performance in adults 80 and older.

Beyond the lab, our Wisconsin team is actively out in the community—connecting with older adults, sharing research findings, and celebrating the remarkable SuperAgers who inspire this work every day.
