The Trump Administration has announced a halt in SNAP (Food Stamps) funding during the federal government shutdown. Starting November 1, 1.9 million Illinois residents will not receive new SNAP benefits for the month of November (any benefits from previous months can still be used).

💡 What’s happening:

For the first time in 60+ years, SNAP benefits are being paused nationwide. Illinois and several other states have filed a lawsuit to require the federal government to release funds, but for now, families are encouraged to plan ahead.

🍎 Who’s impacted:

45% of SNAP households have children
44% include a person with a disability
37% include older adults

💪 How you can help:

📍Donate to local food banks or pantries — they’re working hard to support families in need.

📍Stay informed: Visit 👉 snapfederalimpact.illinois.gov for the latest updates and to find food resources near you.

📍Speak up: Contact the White House and ask that SNAP funding be restored.
