NANS was formed in 1994 through the efforts of a group of neuromodulators dedicated to patient care and to advance the science and application of neuromodulation to benefit patients. The North American Neuromodulation Society (NANS) links patients, physicians and health care professionals, scientists, engineers, and industry to advance neuromodulation, drive multidisciplinary collaboration, enhance therapy awareness and inspire innovation to transform patients’ lives.

Dr. Cajigas is being recognized for his outstanding contributions as a physician-scientist advancing brain-computer interfaces for patients with spinal cord injury, as well as innovative neuromodulation research in Parkinson’s disease.

An Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Cajigas’ work bridges engineering, neuroscience, and clinical translation—highlighted by NIH- and foundation-supported research, novel neurotechnology development, and leadership in human motor cortex mapping.

Dr. Dayeh has led the development of a clinically ready brain-mapping platform now used in more than 100 patients across multiple centers, helping surgeons perform more precise and efficient epilepsy and tumor procedures. 🧠

His work also advances real-time surgical guidance, wireless brain monitoring, and emerging neurotechnology with long-term implications for patient care and potential vision restoration.

Dr. Pilitsis has been a cornerstone of NANS leadership—serving as president in 2023–24 and offering years of dedicated service across committees, member engagement, and strategic initiatives. Her commitment has helped strengthen and advance our entire community.

She is also the Chair of Neurosurgery at the University of Arizona Tucson and an NIH-funded researcher with more than 250 publications, continuing to push the boundaries of science and patient care.

These changes would have significant consequences for both patient outcomes and clinical practice.
