Just to clarify, there is a big difference between Health Care & The Health Care System. Health Care is the responsibility of both the government & the individual (as well as the parent/guardian for the underage children). Its is the Government's responsibility to make sure that our drinking water is clean & healthy to drink & hold those responsible who make it not so (wether it is an individual, corporation or themselves). It is also their responsibility to make sure that no-one is poisoning our food supply & if someone is, hold them responsible, no matter who the responsible party is. It is the government's responsibility to not allow those who are adding various substances (chemically derived or otherwise) to foods & let them say they are safe, unless they are unquestionably, without a doubt, safe.
It is the individual's responsibility to drink enough good water a day to hydrate them, as well as to help them detoxify their system & help create barriers in their lungs & gut to help protect them from allergens, bacteria, viruses, etc.
It is the individual's responsibility to make the choices to eat quality food, eat enough vegetables, enough healthy fats, red meat done rare to medium rare, fish, bacon, some fruits, etc....real food.
It is the individual's responsibility to exercise & move around doing some type of physical activity.
This is Health Care. Health Care is preventative.
The Health Care System is ideally used for accidental traumas, congenital conditions that effects how your body functions properly, infections & various other diseases....something done to bridge the gap until you can regain responsibility and get your health back on track. This means very few medications, for very few conditions need to be lifelong prescriptions. Take what you need to to get pass the crisis, then work with your dr who put you on the meds & any other health care provider that can help you get off the meds with their known & unknown side-effects & once again take control of your Health Care.
I think there is failure on both sides, on the most part, with a lack of responsibility (which I know both sides probably do not want to hear), which in my opinion leads to increased Health Care System costs & decreases in quality of life as we age & more diseases as we age. It is also, in my opinion reversible, but again that takes responsibility & effort on both parts.....
