For almost 50 years, the Shambhala Chicago Meditation Center has offered Chicagoans the opportunity to work with their minds and hearts through mindfulness meditation. Our mission is to inspire and awaken compassionate society through personal and collective transformation. We offer public meditation classes, mindfulness training workshops, and a wide range of teachings from the Shambhala Buddhist tradition. β€œEach of us may be nothing more than a moving wave of change, but we are waves able to know this fact. We rise and fall in an infinitely deep and timeless sea, upright and undisturbed. We share the vast dignity of awakening.”

If we can look at and see the wildness of emotion, we can not only begin to befriend and soften toward ourselves, but we can also begin to befriend all human beings and indeed all living beings.

We are so grateful to have Marcia Shibata at Shambhala Chicago on May 2nd.

The workshop is for both new and experienced students. All materials will be provided. Space is limited to 16 people so that each participant can receive personal instruction

Kado-Ikebana is a contemplative art practice that reveals the relationship between nature, space and our own life force, and is based on the practice of meditation. The ultimate goal of Kado-Ikebana is not to make beautiful flower arrangements, but to expand our heart/mind, to be present in each moment, work with our obstacles and to develop respect and appreciation for ourselves, others and all life.

**There will be a FREE flower arranging demonstration MAY 1 (more info to come)

πŸ“– BOOK CLUB IS TOMORROW!

We've been awaiting our 2nd book club discussion since last month when we started The Five Invitations: Discovering What Death Can Teach Us About Living Fully, by Frank Ostaseski.

πŸ™πŸ½ Meditation Instructor Louse Hasty will be leading our discussions, along with Alice Dan and Armando Maggi. This is an ONLINE meetup

We meet on the second Thursday of the month to share our experience and reactions to reading. Readings for each session are recommended but not required to attend.
