Celebrate feminine power and resilience this International Women’s Day! 💜✨

Join us for Strength In Motion, an evening dedicated to the passion, power, and unity of women everywhere. Presented by Tequihua Self Defense, Storied Fight, and Haibayo, we are bringing the community together to honor the female combat athletes who pave the way and to celebrate the strength within every woman.

What’s happening:
🎬 Film Screenings: Three short documentaries spotlighting incredible female athletes.
🎤 Expert Panel: A deep dive into the “Women in Martial Arts” world with UFC veteran Milana Dudieva and BJJ Black Belt Bernie Ambubuyog.
🛍️ Mini Market : Shop and explore our all-female mini market featuring local women-owned businesses and creatives.

Purpose behind the motion:
100% of proceeds go directly to Sarah’s Inn, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting those affected by domestic violence and breaking the cycle for future generations 💜

Calling all Chicagoland Change-Makers 🏙️🥋👸🏽

Hi everyone! My name is Valerie, and I am the owner and lead instructor of Tequihua Self Defense —a self-defense program for women, created by a woman.

I’ve had the honor of working with over 1,000 women across Chicago and the suburbs, collaborating with 30+ amazing non-profits, schools, hospitals, and local businesses to build stronger, safer communities.

As I look ahead to 2026, my goal is to expand this impact even further! I am currently looking to collaborate with:

✨ Non-profits looking for empowerment workshops

✨ Women-owned businesses interested in team-building or community events

✨ Schools & Universities prioritizing student safety

✨ Hospitals & Healthcare providers

✨ Gyms & Community Centers wanting to offer specialized safe spaces

Last Friday , I was invited by coach to teach a striking class to his students at

What an honor to work with such incredible kids, spending their time challenging themselves through martial arts 🥋 I’ve always preached how important martial arts is for our youth. In these students, I saw my younger self and it was a beautiful thing. To learn respect, discipline, perseverance and practical skills is a gift.

The students had great attitudes, listened to instructions and helped each other in learning new techniques! Coach Mondragon has done a great job mentoring this group and teaching them what it means to be a true martial artist. I can’t wait to come back ❤️‍🔥
