You can’t “Make America Healthy Again” by defunding child health experts.

Just this week, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services terminated several federal grants worth millions of dollars to the American Academy of Pediatrics, funding that supported work on reducing sudden infant deaths, adolescent health, rural access to care, early autism identification, fetal alcohol syndrome prevention, and more. 

These cuts come amid public clashes between AAP and HHS over evidence-based vaccine policy and broader public health guidance, yet instead of strengthening science-driven pediatric care, this move weakens it. Taking money away from proven child health initiatives won’t make America healthier, it undermines the very programs that help kids thrive.

If your health agenda starts by sidelining pediatricians and defunding child health programs, it’s not about making America healthy. It’s about ignoring science, and kids pay the price.
