Who knew? We did! ☯️😁 Yes, do your tai chi!

Volunteers either did no exercise, aerobic exercise or tai chi for 12 weeks and had their waist size tracked by University of California in Los Angeles researchers.

OK, we almost didn't make it today! Getting off sugar makes you crabby and we were snippy and had a tiff, so that delayed things, and we were tired. But we never quibble for long and we wanted to bring you Day 4 of our fitness journey!

Oh, and the the ends somehow got snipped off during the recording. :-/

So bear with us. We will get better at this!

It's late and we barely made it, but we did it in time for today!

OK, so we're better than yesterday but not terrific. The first video was a fail because the batteries in the mic ran out and it sounded like we were underwater. Which we found out after editing and exporting... Anyways, the second take is what you see here.

Can you see my fingers flail in front of the camera? :-) It's late. We're tired. We've had no sugar. Life seems drab. See how that addictive sugar perks you right up?

Day 2 of the Fitness Journey. Still dragging, no energy, but getting a little better. At least the lights don't seem so bright and the sounds so loud. :-/

Didn't pick out a Darebee.com exercise program, but that's ok, one little thing at a time. I still didn't have sugar, which is just as addictive or worse than ci******es, so that's good!

Tomorrow I hope I'll feel better and will be more informative. Right now it's just ugh time. So be kind to yourself. Baby steps. Drink water!

The first day. Head aches. Sensitivity to light. Ugh.

What seems to be a small step but is really a big one: removing added sugar from your diet!

Feeling like crap and really lethargic but moving is the best thing.
Go to Darebee.com and pick an exercise program and start today!

And don't forget to drink water. Water is your friend! It won't make you feel amazing, but it will make you feel a little better.

Today is our last hurrah before we start the journey to reclaim our fitness! We may introduce some taiji and kung fu training later on, but first, we want to focus on free exercise programs that almost anyone has access to.

I'm a lifelong martial artist and martial arts instructor, and I've spent the past few years studying at one of the country's top integrated Eastern-Western medical schools for my doctorate. I had always kept myself in shape and strong due to spinal issues, until recently.

Having lived in an apartment in an angry urban neighborhood for the past several years, compounded by the recent COVID lockdowns and readily available crap food you can have brought right to your door with a few taps on an app, has made my wife and I fat and out of shape. We've both lost muscle tone and flexibility. We're both old enough to know where this will lead if we don't do something now.

We're going to be making changes to our diet and lifestyle. We'll be offering recipes, exercises, diet tips and more, Check in tomorrow for more details.

Remember, it's never too late to bounce back! The hardest part is taking that first step. Some days will be more fun than others.

We plan on posting daily, so you'll get to see it all!

Qigong time again. Take a little time to strengthen your immune system the old fashioned Chinese way with the healing exercises of Qigong.

Class is tomorrow evening at 7pm Chicago time and will run for 45 minutes to an hour. We'll cover the basics of stance and breathing followed by a really great qigong set that is easy to learn and do but helps strengthen your protective/wei qi barrier so external factors can't effect you as much (over time).

Then we'll finish off by doing one or two seasonally appropriate qigong exercises (I'll explain more about that in class).

The first and best thing a health care practitioner can do is keep themselves healthy. Join us and learn how easily this can be done.
