When your ankle suddenly gives, you might think you just sustained an ankle sprain. However, Stavros O. Alexopoulos, DPM, would like to know which type of ankle sprain. From a podiatric perspective, the direction your foot turned and which ligaments took the hit make a huge difference in how you’ll recover. Here are the three main types of ankle sprains and what to look out for. https://tinyurl.com/2p8y58fe

Can you sit in a deep squat with your heels flat?
If you fall backward, your Dorsiflexion (ankle flexibility) is limited. Tight ankles force your arch to collapse (overpronate) to find a fake range of motion. Stretch those calves, and if you still have trouble, come see us: https://mychicagofootexpert.com/contactus/

Athletes will try anything to stay warm in a winter game...including dumping cayenne pepper in their cleats.

The theory is that the "heat" from the spice warms up the blood.
Here's the thing: it's a chemical burn, not a heater.
Using irritants on your skin creates a sensation of heat by triggering pain receptors, but it doesn't actually improve circulation. Worse, once you start sweating, that pepper turns into a spicy paste that can sting blisters and cause rashes.

Skip the pantry hacks. If you want real warmth without the burn, check out our guide to what actually keeps toes toasty in negative temps:

Long commute? If the top of your right foot aches, you might have "Extensor Tendonitis" from holding your foot flexed over the pedal.
Adjust your seat back so your leg is straighter, or use cruise control to rest your ankle.

And if it STILL won't go away?

Athletes are notorious for trying anything to get an edge, as former Olympics doctor Stavros O. Alexopoulos, DPM, would know, and that was especially true for Rams players when they took on Da Bears in the NFC Divisional Game. Did putting Cayenne Pepper in their cleats actually help them win? Let’s find out (probably not!). https://tinyurl.com/5f2427t8
