Welch, DO, Fund was established in 1965 through a bequest from Dr. Welch’s estate to support the educational endeavors of Osteopathic Medical Students. Each Welch Scholar is nominated by their Osteopathic College or School based on financial need, combined with outstanding academic achievement, participation in extracurricular activities, and strong commitment toward furthering Osteopathic medicine. These grants fund proof of concept, pilot, or feasibility studies that advance Osteopathic medicine, and it is intended to help prepare early career investigators to eventually compete with more senior investigators for future research grants from other funders.
