Established in 2009, the American Osteopathic Foundation’s (AOF) International Medical Outreach Travel Grant provides funding to Osteopathic medical students who plan to travel internationally to an underserved, underdeveloped, or disaster-stricken area on an international humanitarian medical outreach trip. These grants are possible thanks to a fund established by the Rossnick Family in honor of Joni B. Rossnick, and a second fund, established by DOCARE International. The American Osteopathic Foundation’s Sterling K. Welch, DO, Fund was established in 1965 through a bequest from Dr. Welch’s estate to support the educational endeavors of Osteopathic Medical Students. Each Welch Scholar is nominated by their Osteopathic College or School based on financial need, combined with outstanding academic achievement, participation in extracurricular activities, and strong commitment toward furthering Osteopathic medicine. Congratulations to Oluwagbenga Dada, OMS-II, from Rocky Vista University COM-Southern Utah, who is the recipient of a 2025 AOF Osteopathic Research Incubator Grant for his work, "Reducing Fall Risk, Fear of Falling, and Loneliness in Older Adults Through Osteopathic Medical Student–Led Immersive VR Training." These grants fund proof of concept, pilot, or feasibility studies that advance Osteopathic medicine, and it is intended to help prepare early career investigators to eventually compete with more senior investigators for future research grants from other funders.
