LISTENING IS THE MOST IMPORTANT SKILL TO COMFORT A GRIEVING FAMILY
"Michael went out of his way to make it more meaningful to our family" remembers Eileen Grady Newell. Adding "He never stopped listening to us".
Being so 'stressed out', it's hard to concentrate when you're grieving. But things do dawn on you as events unfold. Like for Eileen's family. On the way to the cemetery, the funeral procession made a traditional house visit on the way. Upon entering the cemetery, Eileen's dad thought and tearfully said quietly, "I wish we'd thought to go by the resting place of our daughter too". Michael Gibbons was listening. He quickly adjusted the route to do just what Eileen's dad wished for. Aside from reminding the family of important things to do, he handled all the details, so they could focus on honoring their loved ones. When you've done things for a long time, you have the ability to balance the needs of every family you serve, and most importantly; LISTEN for anything that will add a little more comfort in a difficult time. Suffice it to say, you also develop an intuition for what would make a family truly grateful.
It's what happens when a family takes care of a family.
At Need or Pre-plan, we’ll answer all of your questions and ensure you know every single choice you have to satisfy your personal needs and to honor your loved ones.
