This month marks 100 years since the first national observance of Black History in 1926! We take this time to celebrate the achievements of Black leaders, scholars, and innovators. Whether it be historical figures such as Frederick Douglass, who was an author and a prominent voice for Black rights and equality. Shirley Chisholm, who was the first Black woman to be elected into United States Congress. Or Madame CJ Walker, who was the first woman to become a self-made millionaire.
However, this month recognizes Black excellence in all forms— including the smart, strong, and resilient children that we serve. We not only take this time to honor history, but celebrate and uplift the individuals in our community!
