Shriners Children's Chicago provides specialty pediatric care to children up to age 18 with orthopedic issues from regular to rare. We specialize in care related to cerebral palsy, club foot, scoliosis and a variety of rare diseases. We also treat spinal cord injuries in kids, offer plastic surgery including craniofacial, cleft lip and cleft palate repair, and pediatric rehabilitation in a friendly, family-centered environment. Every clinic visit, procedure, surgical admission, and rehabilitation appointment is provided regardless of the family's ability to pay. The list of accepted insurance providers continues to grow, and includes Medicaid. We are part of a network of more than 20 care facilities with locations in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Our mission is to improve the lives of children by providing innovative pediatric specialty care, cutting-edge research, and outstanding medical education. Come see our spacious activity mall with space for wheelchair sports, games and an indoor playground. We also have a large adapted outdoor playground and an award winning 4000 sq ft patient garden. We offer a full-service cafeteria, free parking and free wi-fi for visitors. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, relying on the generous donations of Shriners and the general public to carry out our mission and change the lives of children everyday.

Our Care Management team helps guide patients and their families through the health system and seek out resources. Today on , we’re honored to spotlight the incredible journey of Owen, featured in this season’s Leaders in Care cover story. At 3 years old, he was treated by Dr. Cappello at Loyola for a tragic lawnmower accident. After performing a foot amputation she referred him to Dr. Ackman, Chicago's leading orthopedic surgeon for pediatric amputees. Now, Owen is a thriving, confident three-sport athlete.
