Do you know why it’s significant?
As of 2026, cardiovascular disease (CVD) continues to be the number one cause of death among women in the United States. In 2023 alone, heart disease was responsible for 1 in every 5 deaths among women.
Most CVD-related deaths are driven by risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity, and diabetes. Many of which can be better managed through healthy eating, regular physical activity, and avoiding to***co. Monitoring blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels is equally critical.
Women also experience unique risk factors connected to reproductive health and pregnancy, including early onset menstruation, early menopause, PCOS, gestational diabetes, preterm birth, and pregnancy-related high blood pressure.
Symptoms Commonly Seen in Women [Different for Men]
- Shortness of breath
- Severe or unexplained fatigue
- Pain in the neck, jaw, throat, or back
- Indigestion, nausea, vomiting
- Dizziness or feeling lightheaded
As we raise awareness, we also honor and remember loved ones missed and the families forever changed. May their lives and legacy inspire greater understanding, prevention, and care for the heart health of our communities.
Know the risks. Protect your heart. Raise Awareness.
