In 2012, Chicago passed the Welcoming City Ordinance, a landmark piece of legislation aimed at making the City more inclusive for immigrants, refugees, and people of all backgrounds.
The ordinance ensures that all residents are not denied services based on their immigration status. It provides access to essential City services, like health care, education, and housing, without the threat of deportation. It also limits the ways local law enforcement can cooperate with federal immigration authorities.

Know your rights and how to interact with ICE if approached. Chicago's Office of Immigrant, Migrant, and Refugee Rights (IMRR) has created comprehensive guide for families to navigate the process.

This resource includes:
✅ Steps to locate a detained individual
✅ Guidance on legal assistance
✅ Key information about detainee rights
✅ Support services for families

Whether you or someone you know is affected, sharing this information could make a significant difference in ensuring families have the tools they need during a challenging time.

Why six seconds? Because in those six seconds, everything slows down. It’s a pause to focus on your partner, to share a moment that says, "You matter to me."

The Six-Second Kiss is more than a kiss, it is a meaningful ritual of connection. Rooted in Dr. John Gottman’s research, this small but intentional act demonstrates how brief moments of attention and affection can ignite intimacy, build trust, and strengthen emotional bonds.

Think of it as a love note written without words. Six seconds to turn toward your partner, no matter how hectic life gets. Next time, let it linger and feel the difference.
