Annually the third Wednesday in July is recognized as GBM Day. GBM stands for Glioblastoma Multiforme and is the deadliest brain tumor type. Former Senator John McCain, former Attorney at law Johnny Cochran and the former US President's son Beau Biden all succumbed to this type of brain cancer. This day is dedicated to spreading awareness for this deadly condition.

In addition to learning more, Mary E. Smith Foundation, Inc is raising funds for NBTS as part of this awareness day. Take time to learn more and/or donate to our Team Page for the National Brain Tumor Society. They help advocate for patients and families affected by brain tumors.

Another Amazing year in the books! This time it is extra special as we return to growth with our flagship event the Annual Brain Tumor Awareness 5K Fun Run/Walk! The 2025 “RUN THE RIDGE” hosted over 103 registered participants. The event included health & business vendors, prizes, team awards plus SURVIVORS & IN MEMORY ceremonies.

Special THANKS to Joseph Thompson Jr survivor & designer of our beautiful shirts. We owe so much to our Survivors who also lead our Gray Matters Teams that raised over $6000 and counting for students, patients & thier families. Ten percent of those profits will benefit The National Brain Tumor Society for their research & advocacy efforts.

We would like to thank our Board of Directors both individual & Group Volunteers of 40 Plus Double Dutch & Technique Gems. Thanks to our in-person vendors OSF Little Company of Mary Medical Center Will Aesthetics McCloud Million Dollar Moments.
