In our December newsletter, Executive Director Yaisa Hagood shares a special year-end message:

"I first became involved with what is now Southside Center of Hope in 2015 when I was recruited by a board member to serve as a fundraising consultant.

The organization, known then as St. Martin de Porres House of Hope, was facing one of the most difficult moments in its history.

Sister Therese had stepped into leadership after the death of her co-founder, the incomparable Sister Connie. She was doing all she could to hold the agency together, but House of Hope was operating at a deficit of more than $300,000 and spending down its reserve funds.

The board was considering closing House of Hope’s doors, and I wondered whether my efforts could make a difference."

This past Saturday, our hearts were full as we gathered with our community to celebrate our Holiday Party at Southside Center of Hope.

We enjoyed a delicious meal provided by Lee N' Eddies, distributed hams and gift bags to our residents, and made sure every child in our program had gifts to open and enjoy this Christmas.

The celebration continued with a raffle, giving residents the chance to win gift cards and spreading smiles and excitement throughout the room.

Thank you to everyone who donated and helped make this day so special. Your kindness and generosity made the holiday season brighter for the families we serve. A heartfelt thank you to Marine Toys for Tots Foundation for helping us spread joy and holiday cheer.

As we close out the year, we wish everyone a holiday season filled with warmth, hope, and community.
