Here is her story:
Who led me to massage therapy? My mother. In 2002, my mother wasdiagnosed with terminal cancer. To reduce her stress during treatment, I wouldlightly massage her hands and feet. It became something I would do to passtime. She loved my massage and told me that I should consider going to schoolfor massage therapy. At the time, I was comfortable with the job that I had, plus Ididn't think massage therapists made much money.
One day while I rode the redline to work, I saw ads asking, "Are you compassionate?", and "Do you havethe compassionate gene?" My answer was yes for both, so I went to the websiteprovided leading me straight to Cortiva, or the Chicago School of MassageTherapy. Immediately I felt my fate was leading me to massage therapy. I tookthe online quiz, attended the open house, and enrolled in the 15 month program. This school completely changed my life! My classmates became family, andtogether we became healers.
After graduation I was employed at spas in the far south, north side anddowntown Chicago areas where I perfected my technique. My goal was to opena massage therapy practice on the Southside of Chicago where I can educate myclients on the benefits of massage therapy; as well as provide quality services. Ipaid tribute to my mom with my first grand opening Mother's day weekend 2011,and celebrated my 10-Year Anniversary, Motherβs day weekend 2021, in a newlocation.
My decision to become a massage therapist was one of the best decisions of mylife. I absolutely love what I do, and hope to continue to practice another 20+years.
