Verdant Place

Verdant Place yoga & wellness classes, retreats and experiences in our flower garden and around Chicago

Previously known as 'Emily Yoga', 'Verdant Virtual Wellness' began during the Covid-19 pandemic after Emily lost her job as studio manager of Nature Yoga in Wicker Park. The studio unfortunately closed due to Covid, but Emily wanted to continue teaching and sharing yoga virtually with her students. Her goal is to create a virtual space that includes modalities beyond yoga, taught by a diverse group of people. Stay tuned for the growth of this virtual space and join us from anywhere in the world while in the safety and comfort of your own home. Emily is currently in training to become a Certified Yoga Therapist through Soul of Yoga in San Diego, California.

So very proud of Laura & I! On Oct 15, we got the keys to the new flower farm in
The whole lot was full of super tall weeds, which we mowed down. Today, we finished assembling our 3’x24’ rows which will be flush with flowers come Spring.

We will continue journaling on Wednesdays through Winter to help digest 2025 and decide which direction we want to go in 2026

No big goal setting, just rest and reflection

👋A study of hands in 2025

👍Research shows that simple, repetitive hand movements help us reach the “flow state” where our cortisol levels are lowered and dopamine is boosted aka less stress, anxiety & depression.
✌️We may feel more present and accomplished. We may reduce the risk of cognitive impairment and pain. Touching earth may be grounding.
🤝Small group projects can help us feel connected to community. Working alongside others decreases loneliness.

Not captured are hands in yoga sessions- holding meditative mudras and carrying the weight of the body in plank/downward dog.

Anyways…grateful for those who joined our programming or collaborated in any way. Grateful for those who are following along here, thinking about joining in the future. Grateful for my goal to help positively impact the community and will continue to do so in 2026. Life is hard, here to help

In this special end of the year workshop, we will combine the meditative powers of yoga, journaling and flowers.

Rose, Thorn & Bud
🌹Honor success & growth
🥀Acknowledge failure & loss
🌱Build hope for the year to come

The yoga practice is gentle and approachable for all bodies. Guests will have access to a beautifully curated bloom bar and choose the stems that speak to you, representing the meditation/journaling prompts. Learn how to create a unique, hand-tied bouquet to not only serve as NYE decor but a meaningful reminder of how far you have come this year.

This workshop is hosted by in Lincoln Park

Yes, it’s December and yes, we’re getting outside and moving our bodies any time it’s over 40 degrees! Join us at the new Flower Farm 401 n Oakley in this Saturday for a volunteer day assembling the flower beds. We’ll be out from 10a-1p, but come as little or as long as you’d like! We’ll have coffee and baked goods to share. Working alongside community is sure to boost your mood (and muscle strength!). “Trade” volunteer hours for free flowers come Spring.

ps there is no restroom on site but Hound Dogs & Goodwill on Grand Ave are nearby!

Our Story

I completed my 200 hour certification at Nature Yoga in March 2014 under the instruction of Mark Lerro and Erica Rumpel. Additional training with Amber Cook and Rich Logan. My dance and physical therapy background lends to the framing of my classes, which focus on interesting flow through poses, anatomical alignment, injury prevention, meditation and mind body connection. Class Descriptions: Slow Flow/candlelight- Moves at a slower pace emphasizing meditation, relaxation, and restoration. Increase flexibility and range of motion while clearing away stress. Perfect for those new to yoga as well as experienced yogis. Vinyasa- Moves at a moderate pace with an invigorating sequence that stretches and strengthens the entire body. All levels welcome
