In response to the recent incidence at Orville Bright Elementary School- SCDAI stands firmly with the mother living with Sickle Cell Disease and her children who were recently targeted and attacked.
Bullying, violence, and discrimination have NO place in our communities — and we condemn these acts wholeheartedly. No one living with SCD should ever feel unsafe or alone. This incident is heartbreaking and unacceptable, and it highlights the ongoing stigma our community continues to face.
To the family: We see you. We support you. We stand with you.
To our community: Let’s continue to speak up, show up, and protect one another.
If you or someone you know is facing bullying, violence, or discrimination related to Sickle Cell Disease, SCDAI is here with resources, advocacy, and support.
Together, we rise against stigma. Together, we stand stronger.
