How are we staying present in these times?

It makes sense if you’ve felt overwhelmed lately.
We are witnessing a lot.

Violence. Rollbacks of rights. Harm to bodies and land.
And a constant stream of information telling us to keep up and keep moving.

Our nervous systems weren’t built for this pace.
If you’ve felt frozen, numb, exhausted, or irritable — that isn’t weakness.
That’s protection.

But we can’t show up for the world we want if we’re completely shut down.

So we thaw gently.
Move your body.
Call someone you trust.
Use your voice.
Make something with your hands.
Step outside and remember you belong to something bigger than the feed.

Caring for your nervous system is not disengagement.
It’s what makes sustained courage possible.
The world may be on fire —
and still, we are the ones carrying the water.

Stay present.

We enjoyed spending time with the Beverly /Morgan Park community at the health and wellness fair - we made hand felted grounding stones with folks that stopped by our booth. So many varied and beautifully unique creations came from this moment of slowing down and intentional making!

This reflection explores the difference between resolutions and intentions, and how choosing presence can become a way of living rather than a goal to achieve.
