Blue Bird Day

Blue Bird Day Blue Bird Day is an academically structured therapeutic program for children 2 - 7 years old. Feel free to connect with us via email or visit our website.

Blue Bird Day fosters socialization, sensory regulation, and pre-academic learning in children ages 2–7 years in therapeutic rotations that simulate preschool and kindergarten settings. Our compassionate therapists practice a relationship-based and family-centered approach, provide parent training, and collaborate on goals and individualized intensive treatment plans for your child. We believe in a collaborative and multi-disciplinary team approach to therapy. A team of occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, dietitians, developmental therapists, behavioral therapists, physical therapists, and therapeutic assistants are created for each child to ensure child and family are fully supported and the best possible results are achieved. Options for individualized, group and virtual therapy sessions are available as well. Want to learn more, sign up for a tour, or have a specific question?

Our Blue Bird of the Week is Avery! Avery is our alphabet lover and class singer, never missing a chance to sing the "Days of the Week" and "Zoophonics" songs. Perhaps the best part is how happy she is when you join in singing songs with her! She can also be found exploring books and popping lots of bubbles. We're so proud of all her growth and are thrilled to have her sweet, friendly spirit at Blue Bird!

This week at Blue Bird Day, we’re celebrating Black History Month with hands-on learning and creativity! We explored inspiring stories by reading “Dream Big, Little One” by Vashti Harrison and “My First Heroes: Black History.” We honored trailblazers like astronaut Mae Jemison, inventor Garrett Morgan, and civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. through vibrant crafts and silhouette art. From matching games to imaginative projects, these activities helped our kids connect with history and discover the power of dreaming big!

Our Blue Bird of the Week is Samuel! Samuel is our dreamer with big goals for his future. When asked, he’ll say he wants to be a pilot, a teacher, an OT, a doctor, and the list goes on! Samuel puts his dreams into action by running circle time (by himself if he had his way) and sticking up for all of his friends. Speaking of friends, Samuel loves to play with them, always making sure everyone is included in every game. But don’t let his kind nature fool you, Samuel plays to win! He is competitive with the skills to back it up, but ever the gracious winner Samuel always has something kind and encouraging to say. Samuel has a great sense of humor and a smile that lights up a room! We are so proud of you Samuel and know you will achieve your dreams!

Does your child get overwhelmed by loud noises, bright lights, or certain clothing textures? These aren't just quirks or tantrums—they could be signs of sensory processing differences. For some children, the world feels louder, brighter, or even numb because their nervous system interprets sensory information differently.

Understanding this is the first step toward empathy and effective support. Their reactions are genuine physiological responses, not behavioral choices.

Want to learn more about the eight sensory systems and how you can create a more sensory-friendly environment for your child? Read our full guide to discover practical strategies and when to seek professional support.
