The holidays have a way of activating parts of us. The part that wants to keep everything together, the part that feels tender or grief-stricken, and the part that just wants to escape the discomfort can all show up at once around the holidays and family gatherings.
Through an Internal Family Systems (IFS) lens, none of these parts are wrong or problematic. They are trying to protect you. By approaching your parts with curiosity, calm, courage, and compassion, you can respond from a more grounded, Self-led place instead of reacting from old patterns. This season, you don’t need to fix your family dynamics, you can start by caring for your inner parts and world.
If this resonates, we invite you to read Mara Hundrieser-Acosta’s blog on IFS https://www.concentricchicago.com/blog/2023/9/13/what-are-your-internal-dialogues-trying-to-protect-you-from
