Centered Therapy Chicago (CTC) is a small group psychology practice in the North Center neighborhood of Chicago. Our therapists are dedicated to working with clients to improve their quality of life and make important changes through individual, couples, and family therapy. We specialize in working with young children, tween, teens, and adults who experience anxiety, depression, or distressing feelings as a result of typical stressors related to their life satisfaction, work/life balance, career/school, relationships, parenthood, family difficulties, identity and spirituality. CTC views clients from a holistic perspective looking at all of the important areas of your life when working with you. We take a mind/body/spirit approach our work and are happy to colloborate with other wellness professionals to help you. We build upon traditonal evidence-based practices and also can integrate mindfulness, meditation, movement, creative/expressive therapies, and somatic approaches as needed. We work with the whole family to make important changes in difficult or stressful family dynamics. Our therapists work with very young children and their parents on issues related to potty training, sleeping, discipline, parental stressors, parenting, and behavior management. We work with tweens and teens on issues related to school struggles, peer relationships, bullying, self-esteem, and improving family relationships. We also provide couples therapy to improve communication, increase intimacy, and reduce stressors in the relationship. Our therapists also have expertise in working with clients who have experienced significant losses or who have a history of emotionally troubling or abusive relationships. We provide culturally competent therapeutic services and utilize a wide variety of treatment modalities including relational therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and solution-oriented approaches. Therapeutic services are available in English, Urdu, Hindi, and conversational Spanish.

We’re honored to partner with The Friendship center this season to support neighbors across Chicago’s northwest side. We’re collecting dried beans, pasta, and sauce—simple staples that make a meaningful difference for families experiencing food insecurity.

Therapist Spotlight
🖌️🎨🌟
Before becoming a therapist, Kat Sullivan worked as an art teacher and community arts instructor, leading programs with people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. Those early experiences showed her how art could hold emotion in ways words often can’t. Working with youth in juvenile detention and adults with dementia, Kat witnessed how art-making helped people process grief, joy, and memory—without the pressure to explain.
🎨
She also began to notice how certain types of art suited different needs. For instance, abstract art often offered more freedom for people living with dementia because it lifted the expectation that something should look a certain way. These observations sparked her interest in the therapeutic use of art and eventually led her to art therapy as a career.
🎨
Now, as a Q***r, neurodivergent, trauma-informed therapist, Kat helps clients use creativity for self-discovery, emotion processing, mindfulness, and grounding. She reminds clients that art therapy isn’t about being a “good artist”—it’s about experimenting, playing, and finding new ways to communicate and regulate emotions.
🎨
Not every session involves art, but it’s always available as another language for exploration. Whether through color, texture, or form, Kat invites clients to move beyond words and connect with themselves in new, often unexpected ways.
