Prior research has pointed to a range of effects on children’s mental health, linking the use of social media with depression and anxiety. This articles reminds us how social media has remapped the central experiences of adolescence, a period of rapid brain development, which in turn, maybe influencing the way teens’ brain develops.

Teens who frequently checked social media showed an increasing sensitivity to peer feedback, although the cause of the changes was not clear.
