The UChicago Blood Initiative is a group of students working with the UChicago Blood Donation Center to recruit more blood donors.

Donate Blood

The need for blood affects us all. Nine out of every ten people will need a blood transfusion at some point in their life. A constant supply of blood is necessary for the life-saving treatments needed by many patients at the University of Chicago Medicine.

Please consider taking 30 minutes to donate blood today! The donor center is located in Duchossois Center for Advanced Medicine, Room 2E (5758 South Maryland Ave). It is open from 7:30 am- 5pm Monday through Friday. Call ahead to make an appointment: (773) 702-6247 or online.

For those who are able, donating blood is a simple, meaningful way to give back and to help support our patients. As a small token of appreciation, we invite our donors to choose a food court coupon, Te’amo or Nella discount, an AMC movie ticket or free parking validation.
