Caring for someone with Alzheimer's or another dementia becomes an around-the-clock job—it can be all-encompassing, and all-consuming.

During November, we are encouraging people to make a concerted effort to lend a hand in appreciation for all they do. Providing help and support to caregivers can be easier than most people think. Even little acts can make a big difference.

Thank you to Governor Stitt for declaring November Lung Cancer Awareness month.

The OSDH Chronic Disease Prevention Service, Cancer Prevention & Control Team and the Oklahoma Comprehensive Cancer Network (OCCN) encourage Oklahomans to speak to their health care provider about lung cancer screening.

It could save your life.

Did you know bats are one of the main carriers of rabies in Oklahoma?

People and pets get rabies mainly from bites by infected animals, but there are several ways to prevent this. If you see a bat, do not touch it or pick it up.

Rabies is seen in skunks and in smaller numbers in horses, cattle, cats, dogs and other mammals.

The OSDH Epidemiologist-on-Call is available 24/7 regarding rabies recommendations specific to animal bites at (405) 426-8710.
