Did you know?…
Ricky Brown, owner of Brown Funeral Home in Chickasha, OK, worked at Sevier Funeral Home as an apprentice?
In the late 1970s and early 1980s he was studying to receive his funeral director and embalming license. He worked at Sevier Funeral Home and has now been a licensed funeral director and embalmer for over 45 years. It is such an honor to hear stories from him about the ‘old days.’
The first picture is of Ricky-from our employee picture board in our Funeral Home Museum. The second picture is the employee picture boards, the third picture is Ricky displaying his amazing talent as a saxophone player.
The Sevier family is blessed to have his friendship and continued encouragement.

Rusty Sanders and Larry Sevier worked together?

October 29, 2021
Rusty Sanders, owner of Sanders Funeral Service in Kingfisher, OK worked for Jodie Sevier at Sevier Funeral Home in the early 1960s.
It was in Chickasha he met his wife, Frances Ellen Mills. They moved to Kingfisher in 1967 where he became owner of the Sanders Funeral Service. His son now owns and operates this family owned funeral home.
Rusty served with kindness and compassion at Sevier Funeral Home and carried that legacy onto his Kingfisher Funeral Home. He spent his life serving his community with devotion.
Rusty helped carry the Sevier family legacy of commitment, community, compassion, and connection.

Did you know?….
In the late 1970s and early 1980s, these men pictured with Larry Sevier:
George Dowell,
Barry Fitch, and
Rufus McMahan worked at Sevier Funeral Home?
They spent many years devoting their time to helping families in need.
George and Barry moved away, but Rufus McMahan stayed at Sevier Funeral Home.
Rufus is a funeral director and embalmer who worked alongside Larry Sevier until Rufus retired. Rufus also took care of Jeff and April and the Kile family when Larry passed away. Rufus and his wife Peggy continue to come by and visit their Sevier Funeral Home family. Rufus and Peggy have the gift of kindness and compassion. They have always been a blessing to the Sevier Family.
Each of these men helped carry the Sevier family legacy of commitment, community, compassion, and connection.

Did you know?….
Karen Kern Andrews was one of a very small group of women funeral directors who got her Bachelors degree in funeral service in the 1980s? She was the manager of Tuttle Sevier Funeral Home where she started her family while working full time.
Karen served many families with kindness and compassion.

Details make each celebration of life special.
At this recent service the family brought some of their loved one’s special baseball hats. The hats were put on display in the foyer so everyone could see them as they entered the service.
