I love Notre Dame. Thoes that have been blessed to watch me watch a Notre Dame football game understand that very well. However, I have only ever attended one game in person. My Uncle David invited my cousin Dylan and me to head to South Bend to watch the game. This picture was from November 3rd 2012, when Notre Dame beat Pitt in tripple over time.

Chiropractic care in my office looks different than what most people expect.

One of the biggest reasons is this: I use computerized infrared thermography on every single visit. Sometimes more than once in the same visit. Not because it’s fancy, but because it tells me whether I’ve actually helped the body recover on its own.

This scanner gives me an objective snapshot of how someone’s nervous system is functioning. Similar to how an EKG measures heart function and gives a cardiologist real data, this scan shows how well the brain and body are communicating.

It does that by measuring subtle temperature changes along the spine, which reflect how the autonomic nervous system is regulating blood flow. That system controls fight/flight and rest/digest. When it’s stressed or stuck in survival mode, those patterns show up clearly on the scan.

That’s why this matters. It allows me to see if someone’s nervous system is under stress, how long it’s been there, and how severe it is. And just as important, it lets me track real change over time.

The best part isn’t just watching scans improve. It’s watching people’s lives start to open back up as their body heals.

Yes the baby is crying.

A miss conception, when adjusting babies or kids is that they are adjusted the same as adults. In my practice, if I am seeing an infant like the one in this picture, the adjustment is not the same as one that an adult would receive the amount of force used for an infant like this is about the same as lightly pressing on your eye (with your eyelid shut of course).

Infants, babies and toddlers are no less susceptible to trauma just like adults and their nervous system can be impacted in the exact same way as an adult can. A physical trauma that people often negate is the birth process, which is where abnormal neurological function has the possibility to start. They need a correction just like adults would to help their nervous systems get back into normal function.

Yes, babies, infants and toddlers can have abnormal neurological function and yes, they absolutely need to be checked for that and corrected if necessary.

PS the baby is crying in this picture because Mom is no longer holding them often as babies do.

The power of a step.

As life continues to pull us all in every direction there are many times where we can turn around and ask how we got so far off course. Other people start taking priority, we hit a roadblock, a tragedy happens or you get comfortable.

When we recognize that we have veered off we have two options. Continue the way we are going or take the first step back in the direction we got pulled from.

More than half of my life I have gone out and sat in the woods. First learning how to sit still, be quiet and develop patience. While many of the years I would go out and sit and see nothing but birds and squirrels I would often think to myself why am I out here. I have found a deep appreciation for watching the world wake up around me. But today is a day I will remember forever, the day I got my first buck.
