Something that doesn't get talked about enough: people with intellectual developmental disabilities face significantly higher risks for substance use β€” and significantly more barriers to getting help.

Trauma, social isolation, and complex medication needs all play a role. And too often, treatment programs aren't built with this community in mind.

At Groups, we follow the Americans with Disabilities Act and provide reasonable accommodations β€” because recovery should be accessible to everyone, including those who’ve been historically underserved.

As comes to a close, we're committed to raising awareness and advocating for care that truly meets people where they are.

The Founders Award is one of the most prestigious honors at Groups. Created in the spirit of our founder, it recognizes leaders annually who carry forward the belief that access to care, equity in healthcare, and high-quality treatment for all should drive everything we do.

Each year, members of our Senior Leadership Team submit thoughtful nominations and vote to recognize leaders who truly embody this mission. Those nominations are reviewed by our CEO, Cooper, and our executive team, and two recipients are selected to join the growing legacy of leaders who represent the very best of Groups.

A few months ago, we had the privilege of presenting this year’s Founders Award to Aubrey.

Over seven years at Groups, Aubrey has navigated change, taken on new challenges, new roles, grown and developed, and led with authenticity, humility, and heart. She builds trust, lifts up the people around her, and consistently creates space for others to do their best work.

Congratulations again, Aubrey. We’re so proud to celebrate you and the spirit you bring to our community.

March is National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, and we're taking a moment to recognize the contributions of individuals with developmental disabilities and continue to build a community where everyone truly belongs.

At Groups, that means accessible care, person-first language, and meeting people members where they are β€” this month and every month.

This month, we honor the women who changed the story of recovery β€” often while fighting systems that weren’t built for them.

Women in recovery have led movements, challenged stigma, protected families, expanded access to MOUD, and proven that healing doesn’t have to look one way to be real. Some were clinicians. Some were advocates. Some were mothers, daughters, peers, and survivors.

Many were once told they’d never make it.

Their impact lives on every time a woman is met with dignity instead of judgment, care instead of punishment, and support instead of stigma.

To every woman walking her recovery journey today β€” we see you! We believe in you!

And you belong here!

Today is Black Balloon Day β€” a day to pause and remember the lives we've lost to overdose, and to stand with every family still carrying that grief.

So many of us came to this work through personal loss. A parent, a sibling, a friend, a neighbor. That's part of what makes this community so powerful β€” we show up for each other because we know why this work matters.

If you're moved to, share who you're remembering today.πŸ–€

"Groups saved my life." πŸ’› Cullen's words say it all. Cullen didn't just find treatment at Groups β€” she found people who understood what she'd been through and held her accountable. The combination of medication, group therapy, and community connection is what makes lasting recovery possible. Stories like Cullen's are why we do this work every single day.

🌟 What a day in Lafayette! Our team had the best time at the Leap Into Recovery event hosted by Oxford House Tippecanoe County this past Saturday. Dawn and Olanda represented Groups at our community resource table β€” sharing information about our program and connecting with the incredible organizations doing this work alongside us.

Live music, great food, co****le, and families coming together to celebrate recovery. This is exactly why we show up. πŸ’›
