NAMI Butte County

NAMI Butte County NAMI Butte County This is done through educational programs and our annual Walk.

We continue to reach out to those in the various communities in our area to provide the needed information and support to better prepare them to handle mental illness. We offer an array of peer education and training programs, initiatives and services for individuals, family members, health care providers and the general public. NAMI's education and support programs provide relevant information, valuable insight, and the opportunity to engage in support networks. These programs draw on the lived experience of individuals who have learned to live well with mental illness and have been extensively trained to help others, as well as the expertise of mental health professionals and educators. All of these programs provide critical education to help individuals and families gain knowledge and skills for living successfully with mental illness.

NAMI Wisdom of the day "Lunatics are similar to designated hitters. Often an entire family is crazy, but since an entire family can't go into the hospital, one person is designated as crazy and goes inside. Then, depending on how the rest of the family is feeling that person is kept inside or snatched out, to prove something about the family's mental health." Susanna Kaysen
