Chico Eye Center is proud to be a participant in the Salvation Army’s annual Angel Tree program, which helps provide Christmas toys and other gifts for families in need.

If you would like to help, look for the Angel Tree tags hanging at our front desk. You can choose a tag, purchase the gifts listed on the tag, and return the tag and gifts to Chico Eye Center by December 5. Also, look for the red Community Food Drive donation barrel in our front lobby, into which you can place any non-perishable food items that you wish to contribute. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!

Our Halloween costume theme this year was Occupations. The optical department dressed up as characters from Men In Black, and we had an alien Plinko game with candy prizes. Everyone did a great job with their costumes! Can you spot the welder, dog walker, clown, zoo keeper, Boy Scout leader, store employees, chefs, artist, lumberjack, hairdressers, crossing guard, fortune teller, school teacher, astronaut, private detective, paleontologist, and barista? Meet our current optometry extern from Michigan College of Optometry, Laura Strothman. She was born in western New York. As a child, Laura’s family moved to the southeast and currently is located in northern Alabama. After attending Southern Adventist University in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Laura became a part of the Michigan College of Optometry's class of 2026. She is now a 4th year optometry student and is enjoying seeing patients at Chico Eye Center for her 2nd clinical rotation. Laura has always thought eyes were fascinating and wanted a career where she could help others, making optometry the perfect fit for her. In her free time, Laura enjoys hiking and exploring nature, reading fantasy and science fiction, and playing the piano.
