Although Halo Breast Care Center (HBCC) is new, its roots in the community are not. As the most recent addition to the HALO Diagnostics family of services, HBCC has been a long-established and trusted partner in the medical community. Our physicians and staff have been providing breast care services through North State Imaging (and its affiliate, Breast Care Center of Northern California) for deca

des. Chances are, if you have had a mammogram, you have seen us in the past. But unlike the past, coming to Halo Breast Care Center will be an entirely new experience- one specifically designed for you, the patient. There was a growing vision among our breast care physicians to create a truly comprehensive, integrated center of services designed around every need a patient could have: screening exams, diagnostic work-up with mammography and/or breast ultrasound, breast biopsy, and if needed, referral for surgery. However, this vision went beyond just the convenience of multiple services under one roof. Our physicians knew that the acquisition of new 3D mammography technology would mean 40% more detection of invasive breast cancers, and 40 percent less call backs due to false positives; that the ability to “Fast-track” patients who have advanced diagnoses’ would save lives; and that nurse navigation services would reduce fear, stress, and management problems for overwhelmed patients. Special alliances with pathology and surgery would be needed, as well as their commitment to work together. These were the aspirations of an exceptionally dedicated group of physicians who saw the need, stepped up to the plate, and made it happen. Our new facility has multiple accreditations, the latest life-saving technology, and staff who can not only sympathize, but empathize with patients. We know the terrain that must be traveled, and understand the courage required to handle the emotional journey. Loss of life is difficult. Last week our center lost one of our staff members, teammates and part of our family.

Our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with the Warmack family. Allie, one of our beloved teammates passed away last week. She leaves behind her husband, and two children and extended family.

During this difficult time, our center is processing and doing all we can to help the family.

We are currently looking for 3 roles:

1. Scheduler

Essential Functions

• Schedules appointments efficiently and accurately.
• Confirms that all patient demographic information is correct.
• Instruct patients on proper preparation on exams.
• Works all active orders and queues to ensure patients are scheduled in a timely manner.
• Relays information accurately and promptly between patients and staff.
• Warm hand off any connecting calls between patients, offices, and staff.
• Document all patient contacts, to ensure clear and open communication.
• Perform other tasks, as assigned, or needed by leaders.

Competencies

• Detail oriented and good organizational skills.
• Ability to work under stressful situations.
• Computer knowledge and experience
• Demonstrate clerical skills and ability to establish good working relationships with others.
• Demonstrate ability to work independently within a team framework under minimal supervision.

2. Referrals & Authorizations Coordinator

Essential Functions

• Review all incoming orders from faxes and work queues.
• Verifies that all orders are complete, and all information needed is in order.
• Verify insurance eligibility.
• Acquire authorizations for any exams needed.
• Confirm/Request all priors and pathology.
• Sends all verified exams to schedule.
• Perform other tasks, as assigned, or needed by leaders.

Competencies

• Detail oriented and good organizational skills.
• Ability to work under stressful situations.
• Computer knowledge and experience
• Demonstrate clerical skills and ability to establish good working relationships with others.
• Demonstrate ability to work independently within a team framework under minimal supervision.
• Good visual and auditory acuity.

3. Support Staff

Support Staff Job Responsibilities:
• Supports the center, in various roles, with various tasks.
• Help patient’s complete registration process.
• Schedule patients for follow up or same day appointments.
• Assist with rooming patients, as needed.
• Maintain workspace cleanliness, restock clerical equipment, and keep lobby clean.
• Reviews schedules and reports to confirm patient appointments.
• Relay information accurately and promptly between patients and staff.
• Warm hand off any connecting calls between patients, offices, and staff.
• Perform other tasks, as assigned, or needed by leaders.

Competencies

• Ability to interact with patients, staff, and physicians in a professional and compassionate manner.
• Strong clinical knowledge (breast health, medications, etc.)
• Able to assess, plan, intervene, and evaluate the physical, emotional, and educational needs of patients.
• Advanced knowledge of current screening, diagnostic tools, and treatment options for breast cancer patients.
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Strong ability to multi-task.
• Demonstrate strong ability to be flexible and receptive to new ideas and be able to lead and/or participate in change in ever changing breast health situations.
• Good knowledge of and ability to perform sterile procedures.
• Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Strong ability to be detail oriented.

Chico Breast Care Center is accredited by the American College of Radiology in Mammography and Stereotactic Breast Biopsy, and is in compliance with the FDA through the Mammography Quality Standards Act.

WHAT DO THESE ACCREDITATIONS MEAN TO YOU, THE PATIENT?

It guarantees that all our physicians (radiologists) are board-certified and have particular expertise in breast imaging — they are not just people who wander in once a week or month. These physicians have undergone special training and/or fellowships in women’s imaging, because they have a genuine interest in this area of study. Just as important, our technologists must undergo special training as well. Together our staff makes up a team of specialists that are truly committed to “excellence” in the field.

It means that we offer comprehensive, integrated breast imaging services all under one roof, including the newest 3D Mammography technology. The scope of “comprehensive breast care” includes everything from screening mammography to referral for surgery or oncology, and all that lies in between. It is an ideal approach for both patients and clinicians, who can work together more efficiently, accurately, and effectively to ensure patients have the absolute best possible outcome.
