SMPs are warning about an increased amount of scam calls about chipped Medicare cards. Medicare beneficiaries are reporting calls from "Medicare representatives" or "agents" that are calling to help them get new Medicare cards with a chip in it. These don't exist. This is a scam to steal the Medicare number so they can bill Medicare and get money.

Report these calls to the SMP. Be sure to review your Medicare statements for charges for braces. If you find something, say something.

The most valuable support a family caregiver can receive is from a peer. Come explore the Family Caregiver Cafés. They meet once a month and are facilitated by trained staff. Caregivers learn strategies and skills to solve problems; maintain their own personal, physical and emotional health; and to provide the best care they can for those who are dependent upon them.

Passages HICAP (Health Insurance Counseling & Advocacy Program) works to inform and support our aging adult community.The Medicare Annual Enrollment Period lasts from October 15 – December 7. Registered Medicare counselors will be on site and available to assist with Part D or Medicare Advantage Plan comparisons and changes.
