🥗 Happy National Nutrition Month AND Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day! 🥗

Today we celebrate the science of nutrition and the role Registered Dietitians play in improving health through Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT).

✨ Did you know?
• MNT can lower A1C by 0.3-2% in people with diabetes.
• Reduce LDL cholesterol by 10–20%.
• Working with an RD can support sustainable health habits, improved energy, and better overall health.

Whether you’re managing diabetes, heart health, digestive concerns, or simply looking for personalized nutrition guidance, MNT can make a powerful difference.

At Nutrition for Daily Living, my goal is to help you turn nutrition science into practical strategies that fit your life. Find an RD to today!

March is , and this year’s theme is “Discover the Power of Nutrition.”

As Registered Dietitians, we see that power every day and help uncover unmet nutrition needs. From helping people manage diabetes, identifying malnutrition to supporting community access to food and evidence-based care.

Nutrition care can:
✨ Improve health outcomes
✨ Support chronic disease management
✨ Lower healthcare costs
✨ Help people feel better and live fuller lives

Recognizing the unmet nutrition needs in my own community is what inspired me to start Nutrition for Daily Living. Check out this month's article about the impact of Registered Dietitians and be inspired to find unmet needs within your own community.

This is BIG — and it matters for REAL people.

It’s can be hard to recognize malnutrition in someone who’s struggling to eat and its even harder to tell that individual nutrition therapy is not a covered Medicare benefit. For this and many nutrition related medical conditions, Medicare still doesn’t consistently cover nutrition services for so many people who need them. 🍽️💔

Nutrition care isn’t a luxury, it’s a low-cost, high-impact investment in health that can help prevent hospitalizations, improve outcomes, and empower people to eat and feel better.

✔️ Medicare does cover medical nutrition therapy if you have a diagnosis of diabetes or kidney disease (with a doctor’s referral) but that still leaves many individuals without support when they need it most.

We must keep advocating for better access to nutrition care for everyone. 🗣️💪. Lets do this!

Reintroduced in the U.S. Senate, the Academy is a proud champion of the Medical Nutrition Therapy Act.

📣 Great News for Medicare Beneficiaries!

Medicare has officially extended telehealth coverage for nutrition services for an additional 2 years 🎉

That means you can continue to receive Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) from the comfort of your home.

👩‍⚕️ Medicare does continue to have limits on what diagnosis are covered: which includes Diabetes Or Chronic Kidney Disease Stage 3-5.

If you or a loved one has Medicare, this extension helps ensure continued access to personalized nutrition support.

📞 Have questions or want to schedule an in-person or telehealth visit? Have your provider fax a referral for services.
