Many of us go through life trying to change ourselves, change the way we think, look, act. And though there may be nothing inherently wrong with changing ourselves, a habit or pattern of behavior, it’s the motivation behind the desire to change that's important. It may be helpful or harmful to our self-esteem or level of self-acceptance if we feel we NEED to change. Do we want to change because we want to become better versions of ourselves? To be more kind, gentle, understanding or loving? Or is the motivation to change coming from a self-judgment, a feeling of inadequacy or comparison to others? If it’s the latter, the solution isn’t changing, it’s learning to accept ourselves.
