She began working in hospice on a casual basis in December 2024 and transitioned into a full-time role in February 2025. She holds a Master of Social Work degree and is a licensed social worker (APSW) in the state of Wisconsin.

Megan truly values the opportunity to walk alongside patients and families during some of life’s most tender and challenging moments. A great reminder! Our shoes DO matter. Our partner, Greenfield Therapy, is always quick to have a chat about this, including talking about slippers or what footwear is worn (if any) in the middle of the night for trips to the bathroom.

Falls are the leading cause of injury for older adults and can have serious consequences. Routine care for feet and proper supportive footwear can reduce your risk of falls.

View this brochure from the CDC for helpful information on feet and footwear for older adults. www.cdc.gov/steadi/media/pdfs/2024/08/STEADI_Feet_Footwear_Guide_O.pdf

Why is our Lymphatic System Important? Because it clears out toxins!

When sluggish, fluid is retained, immune system weakened, cellulitis, respiratory problems, sinus infections, eczema, colds and ear infections can result.

Jen Depies, our occupational therapist partner, is very knowledgeable about LYMPHEDEMA. It usually comes about with a complaint of leg and feet swelling but it can be so much more or be occurring elsewhere.

Jen loves seeing the improvements that come with her therapy and is super knowledgeable about how to "fix this" problem.

Tip: One size compression stocking is not appropriate for all!

Sabrena Cortazzo has been a nurse with Calumet County since 2022. She’s always known her “calling” was in health care, but hospice care is her true passion. Helping patients and family through their final journey with empathy, compassion, providing patients with peace, comfort, and dignity are very important to my personal values.

Prior to returning to school for her ADN, Sabrena managed an assisted living for 2 years and worked as a CNA for 20 plus years in long term care, assisted living, home care, and hospice.
When Sabrena isn’t working she enjoys spending time with her children, her grandson, walking her dogs and gardening.
