Raise your hand if you (or your kiddos) are working from home now. Same here. Let’s shift for a moment and think about if we are ergonomically set up for long hours at your new workspace, which I hope isn’t your bed. I’ll never let you hear the end of it...yes you!
So in the spirit of trying to help you from a distance, here are the top tips for a conscious workspace. (*Remember this refers to an actual science which experts have assessed. ) 1. Chair: one that doesn’t have to break the bank but does have to be comfortable to sit in for long periods of time. One with options to adjust height, backrest and armrests. Keep those feet flat on the floor, or get a footrest. Arms at a height where they are comfortably at the same height of the desk. 2. Desk: does your desk have a monitor stand? If not, consider adding one. Your screen should be about arms length from where you are seated. Your eye level should be 2-3 inches above the top of your monitor. If you’re using a laptop, like most people, then a stand makes even more sense for you...don’t forget about raising your keyboard and mouse too. Keeping them close together to avoid any awkward reach is helpful. Extra tips; a lumbar support on your chair can help avoid back strain. If your chair didn’t come with one, you can buy separately. Anti glare cover for your monitor or blue light blocking glasses 🤓. Last but certainly not least, get a plant. It will make you smile and promote clean air.
You’ve got this, friend! I hope to see you soon.
