Treatment of Herpes Zoster (Shingles)
The pain and the blisters come from different sources.
The pain starts in the nerves, not directly from the blisters.
The blisters appear on the affected skin area.
Three days ago, the condition started suddenly.
It spread from the front of the abdomen to the back.
The pain was constant and became worse at night.
When the patient lay face down and gently rubbed the painful area through clothing for 1–2 minutes, most of the pain was relieved.
Normally, ginger paste is applied directly to the skin.
However, the patient was worried about breaking the blisters and had limited time.
So, ginger ointment was used instead, followed by heat therapy.
While wearing gloves, a thin, even layer of ginger ointment was applied to the shingles area.
The patient then put on a T-shirt and lay flat.
Warm red bean heat packs were placed above and below the area for about 10 minutes.
After this, the pain was completely relieved.
During the acute stage, this treatment is best done daily, or 2–3 times per week at first.
Over time, treatments can be reduced to 1–2 times per week.
The blisters usually dry up, form scabs, fade from dark purple, and return to normal skin color within 1–2 months.
Throughout the treatment, the patient experiences no pain, maintains good energy, and has normal daily functions.
No side effects from Western medications are experienced.
Shingles Update – 3 Days After Treatment
After the last treatment, pain has greatly improved.
Over the past few days, discomfort was only noticed around 4 a.m.
At today’s visit, pain was rated 2/10, compared to 9/10 before treatment.
The blisters have become darker and are shrinking.
Appetite, bowel movements, and energy levels have returned to normal.
Previously, the patient had poor appetite, constipation for three days, and significant fatigue.
