Honoring Our Veterans at Emerald Coast Hospice

This Veterans Day, we proudly recognized two members of our Emerald Coast Hospice family who have served our nation with honor.

Ms. Sheila Wilson served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force in Research and Development at the Air Force Geophysics Laboratory. After her service, she followed her dream of becoming a nurse — continuing to care for others with compassion.

Chaplain Dr. Wesley Adams, a retired Master Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force, served over twenty years as an airframe repair specialist on F4E and F16C fighter aircraft and as an Air Force recruiter. He now continues his life of service through ministry and care.

We’re thankful for their dedication to both our country and our community.

Nurses are proof that kindness, strength, and resilience can exist in one person. They show up on the hardest days. Lift others when they can barely stand themselves, and prove that compassion is one of the greatest forms of healing. Being a hospice nurse is a calling, a commitment to making an impact in the lives of the patients and families we care for. Over the last week we have celebrated our amazing nurses with several events and individual recognition for the hard work they do every single day. It's National Volunteer Appreciation Week! This week, we proudly recognize and celebrate the invaluable contributions of our volunteers and Volunteer Coordinator, Courtney Barnes. Courtney is responsible for recruiting, training, and coordinating the volunteer program. Our volunteers serve at the heart of our hospice care team.
