For decades, the American Cancer Society recommended that adults at average risk for colorectal cancer start having colonoscopies at age 50. Recently, however, that recommendation has changed. The current guidelines say that colorectal cancer screenings should begin at age 45.
Why the change? In the last 15 years studies have shown that colorectal cancer cases are on the rise among young and middle-aged adults.
The bottom line? A screening for colorectal cancer could save your life! So, if it’s time to take a look, Northwest Florida Community Hospital is here to help! Talk to your primary care provider today about a referral or contact us at 850-415-8180 for more information!
