Today marks a historic milestone for Chippewa Valley Health Cooperative as we have officially purchased the former St. Joseph’s Hospital building in Chippewa Falls from Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS).

The facility, now named Chippewa Valley Cooperative Hospital, will serve as an interim campus while the Cooperative constructs its permanent state-of-the-art hospital in Lake Hallie, which is scheduled to open by early 2028.

Initial hospital services will begin in fall 2025 and will include a cancer and infusion center, an advanced wound care center, and specialty care services. The Cooperative is also in discussions with Chippewa County to open the morgue at the hospital as well.

By summer 2026, Chippewa Valley Cooperative Hospital will have full hospital services, including 30 beds and a 5-bed intensive care unit, a 24/7 emergency department, medical-surgical services, a labor & delivery suite, and comprehensive diagnostic services (laboratory & radiology).

The opening of Chippewa Valley Cooperative Hospital is a meaningful step forward in addressing the critical need for accessible hospital care in the Chippewa Valley.

Our inaugural annual meeting is tonight (Monday, June 16 at 6:30 PM) at the Pablo Center! Only current members of the Chippewa Valley Health Cooperative are invited to attend.

During our annual meeting, we will hold elections for the 2025-2026 term. This includes voting for our Board of Directors and our Nominations Committee. We will also provide an update on Chippewa Valley Health Cooperative and discuss our next steps moving forward.

We recommend arriving early to register and receive your ballot.

Cooperative Members: If you are unable to attend Monday’s meeting, please make sure to mail in your ballot.

After a competitive review process, Chippewa Valley Health Cooperative has selected River Valley Architects (RVA) to fulfill the architectural and design services for the state-of-the-art hospital we plan to build in Lake Hallie.

RVA scored the highest among a highly qualified pool of recognized architects across criteria including design, experience, references, fees, and local building codes and requirements expertise. RVA, headquartered in Eau Claire, has been providing architectural design services for healthcare facilities since 2008.

Chippewa Valley Health Cooperative’s new facility will be a full-service hospital, which means we will provide a comprehensive range of healthcare services to meet the needs of our community. Our new hospital, slated to open in fall 2027, will include the following:

- Emergency Care: Most emergencies will be able to be treated right at the Cooperative's hospital, not a 100+ mile ambulance or helicopter ride away.

- Specialized Departments: Our hospital will include areas such as labor & delivery, surgery, cardiology, oncology, and critical care units.

- Therapy and Rehabilitation: Chippewa Valley Health Cooperative will provide physical, occupational, and speech therapy to aid recovery and improve quality of life.

- Diagnostic Services: The Cooperative will offer comprehensive laboratory and diagnostic facilities such as X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, laboratory testing, and specialized screenings.
