As if all the decorations, music & greetings weren't enough, TODAY officially marks the beginning of the holiday season trifecta – , Christmas & New Year – with a mishmash of Halloween, Hanukkah & St. Valentine, thrown in for good measure. As Charlie Brown would say, "Good grief!" So before all the festivities, food, family, friends, frenzy & football, PLEASE remember to give thanks for all the blessings in your life...they ARE there, you just have to look for them!

When we left off our circuitous route into the simple (we THOUGHT) idea of "scent words," the promise of more minutia lingered. But, as we prepared for this final – for now, at least – installment, we had a revelation. Whether these words were the vocabulary of aroma, OR the more recent visitation of "meridians" and "ley lines," they shared a common theme... introducing new words, and thus new ideas, into our lexicon AND awareness! Maybe, this underlying thread is a product of osmosis, since our Founder recently completed her MA in Literature – with a PERFECT score on her thesis! These days, the word "PEACE" tends to get tangled up in politics & diplomacy & all manner of extraneous details. Yet, one of the most iconic songs about this subject, begins: "Let there be peace on Earth, and let it begin with me." Too often we forget, that WORLD peace begins with INNER peace! Instead of getting bogged down in the "big picture," let spark a peace within YOU...and, then share it with the world!

Ready or not, the Christmas holiday onslaught has arrived. Right alongside the swimsuit close-outs, Halloween discounts, and repurposed pumpkins for Thanksgiving, you will find an AVALANCHE of decor, seasonal foods, streaming holiday tunes and movies, advent calendars, that ubiquitous "Elf" and...of course, Christmas trees! But, did you ever think about something ELSE that only shows up around this time of year? WORDS! You can go all year without EVER hearing things like "Yule"... "Figgy Pudding"... "Noel"... "Wassail"... "Mistletoe"... "Poinsettia"... "Myrrh." Each has interesting origins, however, since we ARE featuring an Aromatherapy 101 profile, the "plant" words will obviously be the focus! As increasingly greater numbers of veterans who have served during modern times, bravely walk into the sunset, we MUST remember to honor their dedication, patriotism & commitment to independence. And YES, they most assuredly deserve ALL of the recognition of ! But, for their sacrifices – which were NOT limited to just one day – haven't they EARNED our respect every day?!? Thank a veteran WHENEVER & WHEREVER you see them!

Have you ever wondered WHY it's called "common sense"? It's not just "old wives' tales" or folklore...it's ACTUALLY something with its own scientific theory: Occam's Razor, which states the simplest explanation is usually the correct one. Yet, we continue to chase the convoluted & contemporary theories! Maybe, should be practiced a little more "commonly" than on just one day. And while you're at it, MAYBE you could rethink the therapeutic powers of aromatherapy – which have been used for MILLENNIA – as something more than some "mumbo jumbo!"
