Essentia Health recently had the privilege of partnering with the Breezy Point, Minnesota, Police Department to help secure funding for a LUCAS 3 Device — critical equipment that delivers high-quality chest compressions during cardiac emergencies. According to the department, the device was used within one week of being received!

We’re excited to share the latest visuals for Essentia-Fosston’s new $12 million emergency department project — take a closer look!

This new ED space will grow from 1,100 square feet to 6,700 and feature specially designed rooms for behavioral health care, along with a new ambulance bay. The project — set to complete in summer 2027 — will also come with several additional exterior and interior upgrades that emphasize the hospital as a healing space.

West Fargo neighbor Dan Gerriets credits his son and primary care provider at Essentia Health for encouraging him to check his heart with a CT scan.

The timely advice coupled with the expert care from the cardiac team at Essentia-Fargo ended up saving his life.

Last February, 72-year-old Jerry Tindal suffered a spinal cord injury after an accident during the American Birkebeiner. Thanks to quick action on the trail and expert care from Essentia’s trauma and inpatient rehab teams, Jerry regained the ability to walk after 9 days in the ICU and 9 days working with a team of therapists at Essentia Health-Duluth.

A year later, Jerry has returned to his active lifestyle of daily hiking, strength training, and spending time outdoors. He even has his sights set on the 2027 Birkie. ⛷️
